FRENTE A LIBERTY ISLAND

Fotografía tomada en el Dumbo, Brookyn, New York, el día 19 de julio a las 1945hs.

"Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
Emma Lazarus

LIBERTY ISLAND

Fotografía tomada en Brooklyn, New York, el día 1 de enero a las 1406hs.

"O, beautiful, for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!

America! America!
God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood,
from sea to shining sea.

O, beautiful, for pilgrim feet
Whose stern, impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!

America! America!
God mend thine ev'ry flaw;
Confirm thy soul in self control,
thy liberty in law!

O, beautiful, for heroes proved
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!

America! America!
May God thy gold refine,
Til all success be nobleness,
and ev'ry gain divine!

O, beautiful, for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years,
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!

America! America!
God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood,
from sea to shining sea!"

DESDE LIBERTY ISLAND

Fotografía tomada en Liberty Island, New York, el día 18 de enero a las 1212hs.

"Start spreading the news
I am leaving today
I want to be a part of it
New York, New York

These vagabond shoes
Are longing to stray
Right through the very heart of it
New York, New York

I want to wake up in a city
That doesn't sleep
And find I'm king of the hill
Top of the heap

These little town blues
Are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it
In old New York

If I can make it there
I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you

New York, New York
New York, New York
I want to wake up in a city
That never sleeps

And find I'm a number one
Top of the list
King of the hill
A number one

These little town blues
All melting away
I am going to make a brand new start of it
In old New York

And if I can make it there
I'm going to make it anywhere
It's up to you
New York, New York..."

ESTATUA DE LA LIBERTAD

Fotografía tomada en State Street , New York, el día 10 de enero a las 1542hs.

"I tell you every street's a boulevard in Old New York
Every street's a highway of your dreams
It's a thrill to shop on 34th Street

Or down in Union Square we like the people you meet
On Mulberry Street, have you ever been there

So keep smiling and you'll never wear a frown
Just remember there's an East Side
And the West Aide and Uptown and Down
That's why we're proud to be a part of New York Town

34th Street
Union Square
Mulberry Street
Have you ever been there

Streets are paved with happiness in Old New York
We're glad that we're a part of it, we're happy that we came
Each sidewalk is a concrete path to fame

Just remember there's an East Side
And the West Aide and Uptown and Down
In this great big metropolis known as New York Town"
